Our Pets:

We are avid pet lovers and treat our pets like children. That means they are spoiled rotten and pretty much have the run of the house. Originally, Kristine owned a cat, Wednesday, but because I am allergic, we gave her up to Kristine's mother, where she is treated like a queen. We quickly became dog lovers after our first Humane Society adoption of Shana. Within about a year and a half, we adopted 2 more. You can check out each individual pet of our (past and present) by clicking the pet name links. Unfortunately, we've had to put Shana (our first) down because she had liver disease. After a couple of months we came across a cute German Short-Haired Pointer named Porter. We decided to adopt him, but after 5 days of no incidents, Ginger snapped and turned on him. Kristine and I decided to cut our losses with Ginger and sadly decided to have her euthenized. As Ginger was getting older, she was starting to show clear signs of aggression towards others dogs and people too. Two days later we finished the adoption papers for Porter and there was Hooch, a black and Tan Coonhound that was born the same day Shana had died and looked alot like her. We just had to have him. Now we are back up to three dogs, things at the Safranek residence has just gotten a bit more interesting.

We believe pets must maintain a regular workout, not necessarily scheduled. Daily we take our dogs (the girls, now the boys & Kosmo) roller-blading or for walks. They all prefer roller-blading because they can really take off, but they are fond of venturing into large fields and forging for whatever they fancy. Any poor unsuspecting birds or rodents are usually in big trouble at this point. Twice in the past, a rabbit has built a nest in our backyard and had it's babies. Our girls are, hey squeeky toys and begin to systematically kill them. I was able to save 2 out of 7 in the summer of 2002. Hopefully, if they grow up they remember where not to give birth.

We are proponents of obedience, but only to a point. Basic commands are suffice. We've trained all our dogs in various classes ranging from flyball and agility to advanced training. Mostly, it is a time for that dog to bond one-on-one with the handler (Kristine or I). Plus, it tires them out, because the best dog is a sleeping dog.

We are sure to get more pets (dogs) in the future. I stress, never get multiple dogs that are all females. No way, no how, be careful!

Well, I hope you enjoy our pet photos and individual descriptions, and we'll post on here any family additions or subtrations that may take place in the future.
